The Annual General Meeting of the Band was held in the Band Hall on Friday 12th March, 2010.
The first item on the Agenda was the election of officers and the following committee were elected unanimously:
Chairman Alec Prior
Treasurer Rachel Regan
Booking Secretary Sally Pillinger
Musical Director Sue Mills
Youth Representative Vaughan Regan
Excerpts from the Minutes:
The Treasurer reported that due to a fall in the number of band members subscriptions were down resulting in a fall of Income, however the number of engagements last summer compensated for this somewhat. The usual donation from our Christmas Carol activities will be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
A new set of Polo shirts were purchased last summer.
In his report the Chairman stated that last summer we took on as many engagements as possible and that it is planned this year to return to more or less our usual number. He also said that the band is looking for more players and a sub-committee has been formed by Jen Prior to address this subject.
We currently support Guide Dogs for the Blind as our charity, however if any member wishes to nominate another charity they should contact the Chairman.
Finally a presentation was made to Bill Sparkes who retired from the band last year. Bill was a founder member and has played trombone for 80 years. For a report on Bill please go to Bill Sparkes Presentation
